Most of us will be aware that our vicar Steve has not been in very good health for the last few years. He was diagnosed with a degenerative heart condition two years ago and he has recently developed type two diabetes.
After discussion with the Archdeacon and Bishop Robert, Steve has decided that it is time for him to stand down from his position as vicar of Fremington, Instow and Westleigh.
He is leaving rather sooner than might have been anticipated, but his health problems are restricting what he is able to do, and he feels that the three parishes will need a vicar who can give more time and energy than he is able to offer.
Steve’s final service will be the group service in Fremington on Sunday 29th September. He is leaving in the Autumn to allow sufficient time for a new vicar to be in post before Keith Brimacombe’s departure next year.
Steve will be sorry to leave, but he has become convinced that he needs to do so, both for the church’s sake and for his health’s sake. After leaving, he plans to take a sabbatical in order to consider what he might do next.
